Cedric the Entertainer, Beth Behrs, Tichina Arnold and Max Greenfield welcome America in to “The Neighborhood” on their new CBS comedy.
The cast, rounded out by Marcel Spears and Sheaun McKinney, touches on gentrification of traditionally “African-American neighborhoods” in a light-hearted yet conversation stirring manner. The tale is based off of creator, Jim Reynolds, growing up as a young caucasian man transplanted in to a predominantly African-American part of town.
The show also includes the concept of intergenerational differences. It was noted during the panel presentation for CBS TCA’s , that there hadn’t been a show like this on the network in nearly 50 years.
“If people see themselves reflected in these characters, regardless of race, that’s a good thing. My hope is we can win hearts and change some minds,” said Reynolds.
“The Neighborhood” debuts on Monday October 1st at 8pm on CBS.
