Denise Salcedo spoke with Baron Corbin during Summer Slam media day. Where he recollected on his time back in NXT since debuting on the main roster in 2016. Corbin stated leading up to his summer 2023 return he was feeling lost and frustrated about his position in his career, Triple H offered him the opportunity to work with Carmelo Hayes down in Florida. Back at the performance center, he was welcomed with open arms by Shawn Michaels, and the rest of the coaches in NXT. Corbin had felt a renewed sense of purpose, and even requested to stay in NXT. It didn’t matter for how long, he was so thrilled to be there and have fun.
“…Every minute I was in that building I was getting better, He (Shawn Michaels) was letting me find myself again, letting me find the love and passion for this again…” – Baron Corbin
The most notable part of Baron Corbin’s 2023-2024 run in NXT was his tag team partnership with Bron Breakker as The Wolf Dogs. Bron and Corbin clicked instantly as friends behind the scenes, and management saw the opportunity to put them together and elevate Bron to a new level. Together they won the 2024 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament and then won the NXT Tag Team Championship and held them for 56 days before losing them to current champions Nathan Frazer & Axiom.
Baron Corbin was drafted to Friday Night Smackdown in May during the WWE Draft, now with a newly rekindled passion for wrestling and performing. You can find the full interview here.
