Report: Kevin Owens Believed To Have Re-Signed With WWE

There are people in WWE who believe Kevin Owens has re-signed with the company, but it’s being kept quiet.

Owens signed a three-year contract in 2021, and in an August interview with Sports Illustrated, he mentioned having about six months left on his deal. In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer touched on Owens’ status.

“I do know that multiple people in wrestling have said dating back to Bash in Berlin that they believed he’s signed but it’s being kept quiet, but that’s wrestling rumors that we haven’t been able to directly confirm,” Meltzer wrote.

On WWE SmackDown, Owens recently turned on Cody Rhodes in a segment filmed in the parking lot during WWE Bad Blood. In the storyline, Owens has been suspended, and WWE has yet to air a video he sent explaining his actions. This angle is expected to unfold further on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.

According to Meltzer, everyone is keeping very tight-lipped about Owens’ contractual status. He wrote:

Those closest to the situation have not said anything about any of the different versions of the story out and very clearly whatever the story is, he wants it secretive for now

The 40-year-old Owens has spent the last 10 years in WWE, winning his debut match against CJ Parker (now known as Juice Robinson) at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution on December 11, 2014. Later that night, Owens attacked his friend/rival Sami Zayn after Zayn had defeated Neville (now known as PAC) for the NXT Championship in the main event, powerbombing him onto the ring apron.
