Chris Jericho Open to WWE Return: ‘Business is Business’

Chris Jericho hasn’t ruled out a possible return to WWE, although he says he’s currently happy working with AEW.

Jericho worked for WWE from 1999 to 2005 and again from 2007 to 2019 after taking a two-year hiatus from wrestling. At one point, he said he’d never work for any company in the United States other than WWE. That changed when he appeared at 2018’s All In and officially signed with AEW the following year.

In the last five years, Jericho has been AEW’s first world champion, had memorable feuds with the promotion’s top stars, and led three different factions: The Inner Circle, The Jericho Appreciation Society, and now The Learning Tree. However, despite his accomplishments so far in AEW, Jericho recently told ComicBook.com that he’s open to returning to WWE.

“I enjoyed working there (in WWE) in the past, and I could probably work there in the future as well. We’ll see— to me, business is business but I enjoy working with AEW. I enjoy all that we’ve accomplished since day one. Especially now with the new TV deal. We did what we set out to do, which was to change the course of wrestling history. Tony and I and all of us have done that. It’s a pretty cool ‘F**k you’ to everybody that didn’t think we could do it.”

Jericho continued:

“There’s really no reason for me to go anywhere else right now. I enjoy working for the Khan family and I enjoy working for AEW, so I’m happy.”
