Chelsea Green on US Title Win: ‘I Worked My Entire Life to Be an Overnight Success’

Chelsea Green says this is her time; last night was her night.

Green defeated Michin in the tournament finals at Saturday Night’s Main Event to crown the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion. She was later interviewed backstage, and after disposing of her gum in Byron Saxton’s hand, she had the following to say:

“Well, Brian (she referred to Byron Saxton as ‘Brian’ throughout the interview), I always knew this was going to happen, so I know you’re surprised, and that’s so cute, but I’m not. I’ve been doing this for 10 years. I worked my entire life to be an overnight success. And this is my time. This is my night. Red, white, and green.”

Green originally signed with WWE in 2018 but was released in April 2021. She returned to the promotion in the 2023 women’s Royal Rumble match. Since then, she’s been a two-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion along with Piper Niven and Sonya Deville and is now the inaugural women’s United States Champion.

She continued:

“I’m in the history books where I belong. I should have been there three years ago, but I was released. I should have been there in 2015, but I wasn’t hired. So now’s the time, Brian. Now’s the freaking time! Anything else?”

Green concluded the interview by saying she is going to Disney to celebrate her win on Sunday, which is probably true.

“It looks like I’m going to Disneyland tomorrow, so I actually have to hop on the plane. So, can we wrap this up?”

We will document Green’s Disney celebration throughout the day. Stay tuned to InstinctCulture.com for continued coverage.
