AEW Dynamite May 28, 2025: Adam Cole Defends TNT Title, Mixed Trios Action, King vs. Alexander

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite emanates from El Paso, Texas! Adam Cole defends the TNT Championship against Kyle Fletcher. Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, and Marina Shafir take on Willow Nightingale, Mike Bailey, and Mark Briscoe in mixed tag team action. Brody King faces Josh Alexander and more.

Let’s break it all down in this week’s AEW Dynamite recap!

We Hear From “Hangman” Adam Page

Tony Schiavone introduces Adam Page. Page says triumph is fleeting, but so is defeat. Page says this is something he let himself lose sight of. Page says the wins and losses don’t matter, but rather what you do with them. Page thanks Will Ospreay for the fight of his life at Double or Nothing. He always thanks Ospreay for helping dispel any notion that Ospreay couldn’t potentially lead AEW. Page says he can’t relish in his victory because it is temporary, so for now, he returns the Owen Hart Foundation Championship to Schiavone. Page is now looking forward to the AEW World Championship.

Page points out that the AEW World Championship has been locked away for seven months under Jon Moxley. Meanwhile, Page aimed to showed what AEW meant with his previous title reign. Page promises to dethrone Moxley at AEW All In and free the world title from the briefcase. Page will defend it with every ounce of his being as well. Swerve Strickland’s music hits. He approaches Page in the ring.

Page recalls footage of The Young Bucks previously saying they cost Strickland the world title at Dynasty for Page. Strickland says he had the match won until The Young Bucks interfered. Strickland recalls Page being in the ring at the time too. Strickland accuses Page of colluding with them. Strickland also recalls Page making a promise that Strickland would never be world champion. Strickland asks if Page had anything to do with The Young Bucks’ interference. Page says he considered helping Strickland for a second. He further asserts that if he wanted to cost Strickland the title, he would have done it himself. Strickland doesn’t believe it.

Will Ospreay’s music hits. He stands between Page and Strickland. Ospreay says Strickland is wrong about Page. Ospreay points out that Page shook his hand after their match at Double or Nothing. Ospreay says Page cares about AEW. Ospreay recounts Strickland picking him up as well. Ospreay asserts that Page is the guy to make people believe in AEW again,. Ospreay says they can make things easier if they help Page dethrone Moxley. Strickland knocks the microphone out of Ospreay’s hand. Strickland says he’d never help Page, then leaves the ring.

Jon Moxley, The Death Riders, and Gabe Kidd come to the ring for their trios match.

Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, & Marina Shafir vs. Willow Nightingale, Mike Bailey, & Mark Briscoe

Briscoe chops Kidd, then fires off elbows. Shafir and Nightingale brawl. Bailey kicks Moxley on the outside, then lands right hands. Briscoe and Kidd continue to fight, with Briscoe sending Kidd to the outside. Briscoe leaps off a chair and onto Moxley, Shafir, and Kidd.

Back from break, Briscoe takes turns striking Kidd and Moxley. Bailey tags and lands a missile dropkick on Moxley. Bailey follows up with a roundhouse kick and a running shooting Star Press. Bailey rolls up Moxley for a two count. He then rocks him with a thrust kick. Nightingale and Shafir tag in. Nightingale takes down Shafir with a clothesline, then a hip attack in the corner. Nightingale drives her to the mat with a kick and a spinebuster. Nightingale covers Shafir, but Kidd pulls her off by her hair. Bailey fires off a series of kick to Moxley. Shafir suplexes Bailey. Nightingale rocks Shafir with a right hand and an elbow. Moxley and Bailey tag in. Bailey goes up top. Wheeler Yuta slides a chair into the ring to distract the referee, then pushes Bailey to the floor. Kidd kicks Bailey against the barricade. Kidd then throws Bailey into the timekeepers area.

Back from another break, Bailey and Moxley trade strikes. Bailey connects with a trio of kicks to Kidd. Kris Statlander is seen watching from backstage. Bailey tags in Briscoe. Briscoe hits elbows on Kidd, then an enziguri on Moxley. He lands more elbows on Kidd. Kidd chops Briscoe in the corner. Briscoe launches Kidd across the ring, then dropkicks him on the outside. Briscoe dives on Moxley as well. Bailey wipes out Moxley and Kidd with a moonsault. Kidd rolls back into the ring. Briscoe climbs up top. Nightingale and Bailey knock Yuta and Shafir off the apron. Briscoe delivers a Froggy Bow on Kidd for a near fall. Claudio Castagnoli hops on then off the apron. Komander dives onto him. They brawl up the entrance ramp. Briscoe rolls up Moxley for a two count. Moxley hits the Paradigm Shift, then cinches in the Bulldog. Shafir wipes out Nightingale. Kidd neutralizes Bailey. Briscoe fades.

Winners: Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, and Marina Shafir

Backstage, Ricochet says he’s looked around the locker room and realized he needs a group to help on his quest to gold.

No DQ: Anna Jay & Harley Cameron vs. Penelope Ford & Megan Bayne

Jay pulls Ford out of the ring and throws her into the ring post. Jay then retrieves chairs from under the ring. Bayne positions a chair in the corner. Ford whips Jay into the barricade on the outside. Bayne accidently rams into the corner chair. Jay spikes Ford with a DDT on a trash can. Jay cracks a wooden board over Bayne’s back, but Bayne is unfazed. Cameron then smashes a pipe over Bayne. Jay does the same with another chair. Bayne recovers and takes them down with a double clothesline. Bayne sets up a gold chair in the center of the ring. Cameron sends her crashing into it with a drop toe hold. Jay follows up with a dropkick. Jay drops Ford onto a chair. Cameron covers her for a two count. Cameron and Jay drag a table out from under the ring and set it up.

Back from break, Jay cracks a chair over the back of Ford, then sends Bayne crashing through a table with a chair shot. Ford rocks Jay with a lungblower. Ford misses a moonsault and crashes onto a chair. Bayne drops Cameron onto the steel steps. Cameron gets up and is bleeding. Jay hits a Gory Bomb on Ford on a chair. Bayne breaks up the subsequent pinfall attempt. Bayne throws Jay onto a chair via an F5. Bayne nails Cameron with a lariat. Bayne hoists Cameron her shoulders. Ford leaps off the top for a Doomsday Device.

Winners: Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford

Outside, Mercedes Mone pulls up in a car and a cowboy hat.

The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe, & Powerhouse Hobbs) vs. Griff Garrison, Cole Karter, Preston Vance

Joe strikes down Vance. Shibata rams Karter into the barricade. Joe delivers a senton to Vance. Garrison tags in, as does Shibata. Garrison chops Shibata. Shibata responds with some of his own. Garrison fires off right hands. Shibata lands a dropkick in the corner, then suplexes Garrison. Hobbs tags in, as well as Karter. Hobbs whips Karter into the corner, then crushes him with lariats. He flips Karter upside down. Hobbs knocks Garrison off the apron. Jacked Jameson strikes Hobbs in the back with a paddle. Hobbs spinebusters other members of The Frat House. Hobbs spinebusters Vance. Karter leaps off the top, but Hobbs catches him and finishes him off with a spinebuster for the win.

Winners: Katsuyori Shibata, Samoa Joe, & Powerhouse Hobbs

We Hear From Jamie Hayter

Renee Paquette introduces Jamie Hayter. Paquette asks Hayter about what she’s thinking about following her loss to Mercedes Mone at Double or Nothing. The lights go off and out, revealing Thekla attacking Hayter. Thekla levels Hayter with a big right hand then poses for the camera. Hayter rolls out of the ring clutching her head.

TNT Title: Adam Cole (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher

Fletcher backs Cole into the corner, then taunts him. They lock up, with Fletcher driving Cole to the mat. Fletcher knocks him down with a shoulder check. Cole fires off elbow strikes and an enziguri. Cole backs Fletcher into another corner. Cole knocks Fletcher off the apron with a superkick. Trent Beretta and Rocky Romero arrive at ringside. Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong fight them off. Fletcher rocks Cole with a superkick. He follows up with a powerbomb to Cole on the apron.

Back from break, Fletcher slams Cole to the mat. Cole responds with a superkick and a backbreaker. Cole looks for Panama Sunrise, but Fletcher blocks it. Fletcher connects with a kick. Cole bounces back with a Panama Sunrise. Josh Alexander runs down and strikes Cole, causing the referee to call for the bell.

Winner (by DQ): Adam Cole

After the match, Alexander and Fletcher double team with punches and stomps. Brody King comes down to the ring with a chair. Alexander and Fletcher roll out of the ring.

AEW International Title Qualifier: Brody King vs. Josh Alexander

Alexander and King trade punches. King then chops Alexander in the corner. Alexander responds with a dropkick. King sends Alexander flying with a back body drop. King then delivers a series of forearm strikes against the ropes. King accidently hits the ring post with his hand. Alexander rams King’s shoulder into the ring post. Alexander chops King. King sends him crashing into the barricade. Alexander rolls back into the ring and connects with a high boot. King sends him back to the outside with a shoulder tackle. Alexander spikes King with a DDT on the apron. Alexander slams King’s arms against the ring post. Alexander responds with chops, then sends King into the steel steps.

Back from break, King suplexes Alexander across the ring. He follows up with a lariat. They go up top, with Alexander pulling King’s arm. King locks in a chokehold, Alexander escapes and suplexes King on the apron. Alexander runs into a boot from King. King delivers a crossbody to Alexander against the barricade. Alexander dodges a cannonball from King in the ring. Alexander applies the ankle lock. King kicks him off. Alexander drops King onto his back. Alexander suplexes King and bridges into a pinfall for a two count. Alexander goes up top and descends with a moonsault. King blocks it with his knees. King follows up with a lariat and a piledriver for the win.

Winner: Brody King

We Hear From Mercedes Mone & Toni Storm

Mercedes Mone says legends like Owen Hart and Eddie Guerrero don’t compare to her. Mone says that’s why she calls herself The CEO of AEW. AEW Women’s Champion Toni Storm comes down to the ring. Storm lays her title down on the mat. Storm says she has waited so long for Mone. Storm recounts Mone’s journey in AEW thus far. Storm says Mone has never once spoke or looked at her. Storm recalls Mone saying this was the one match she had wanted. Storm asks what took her so long. Mone says it’s about patience and her own legacy. Mone calls herself the Beyonce of wrestling and The Revolution. Storm says Mone has never met anyone like her. Mone recalls the growth that Storm has had, while asserting her own personal growth.

Mone says she and Storm will have the greatest match of all time. Storm points out that their journeys are similar, with them ending up in AEW where they became who they were meant to be. Storm says she has lived and bled for the AEW Women’s Championship. Mone says Storm’s hips aren’t wide enough for the Mone Train. Storm says a little girl will be inspired by their title match at All In. Storm believes Mone is the greatest of all time, but Storm is timeless. Mone says Storm deserves to have her time to come to an end. They agree to see each other at All In. Storm kisses Mone’s hand. They counter each other’s moves, with Mone then escaping the ring. Storm stands tall in the ring.
