This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite emanates from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! We break it all down in this week’s AEW Dynamite recap!
Josh Alexander (w/ Don Callis & Rocky Romero) vs. Adam Page
Alexander and Page trade strikes. Page backs Alexander into the corner and rains down with right hands. Alexander boots Page in the face, then applies an Ankle Lock. Page rolls through and connects with an enziguiri. Page eats a mid-air elbow as he flies to the outside. Alexander drops Page onto the apron. Page responds with a moonsault to the outside. Alexander escapes a piledriver, only to be clotheslined over the barricade.
The action returns to the ring, with Alexander landing an uppercut. Page chops Alexander; Alexander responds by applying a crossface against the ropes. He lays in his own chops next. Page clotheslines Alexander over the top rope, then dives onto him. Page goes up top. Alexander rolls into the ring, then rolls out to evade a Buckshot.
Back from break, Page bursts out of the corner with a pair of clotheslines. He then launches Alexander across the ring. Page drives Alexander into the mat with a Death Valley Driver. Alexander sends Page up and over. Page charges toward him with a Buckshot Lariat. Alexander counters into a German suplex. They go to the apron, where Alexander plants him with another suplex. Page and Alexander exchanges blows in the entranceway. Page tosses Alexander into the barricade. The referee begins counting. They both barely beat the count of ten before returning to the ring.
Alexander and Page trade strikes. Page plants Alexander into the mat with a Liger Bomb. Alexander leaps off the top with Page in hand. They collide with the ring below. Alexander transitions to the Ankle Lock. Alexander kicks Page on the apron. Page lands a Dead Eye in response. He then goes up top and wipes out Alexander with a moonsault. Callis distracts the referee while Page fends off Romero and Lance Archer. Page hits the Buckshot Lariat for the win.
Winner: Adam Page
After the match, Page says he did not give everything to have all his opponents follow a dumbass like Don Callis. Page says he is here to wrestle because he is the AEW World Champion. Kyle Fletcher emerges with Callis. Fletcher says Page’s sentiment is lovely, but it does not matter because The Don Callis Family runs AEW. Fletcher recalls throwing out a challenge to Page last weekend. Page says Fletcher is lucky he doesn’t get thrown out after what he did last week. Page says if Fletcher wants to make a point, then he can get in the ring and do it. Fletcher does as such. Page says he sees a man full of potential, but Fletcher can’t even put on his sucks.
Page says he sees Fletcher as someone who is built like a brickhouse. Page also says Fletcher is like how he was six years ago, not ready to be world champion. Fletcher asserts that his prime is right now and it will continue as long as he pleases. Fletcher claims he is ready to carry AEW and the world title. Page says if Fletcher wants to be someone who can carry the company, then he will give Fletcher a shot at his title at All Out. Page says he needs to wrestle himself, without DCF nearby. Page also needs Fletcher to find some socks. Fletcher says he doesn’t need anyone to beat Page. He then promises to face Page one-on-one and become the new AEW World Champion.
Backstage, Jon Moxley encourages The Young Bucks that nothing has changed for them and they are still great. Moxley further encourages them to show up and win tonight
Emi Sakura & Mercedes Mone vs. Alex Windsor & Riho
Mone and Riho lock up. Sakura and Mone lay in strikes on Riho. Sakura tosses Riho across the ring. Riho trips up Sakura against the ropes, then nails her with a 619. Windsor tags in and drops Sakura on her back. Windsor splashes Sakura in the corner. Windsor launches Riho into Mone and Sakura. Riho follows up with an elbow strike to Mone. Riho applies a crab on Sakura. Mone pulls Sakura to the outside. Windsor and Riho wipe them out with a pair of dives.
Back from break, Riho sends Mone flying with a hurricanrana. Riho knocks Sakura off the apron with an elbow. Windsor tags in takes down Mone with a shoulder tackle. Mone dodges a Sharpshooter attempt. Riho lands a diving stomp on Mone. She then dropkicks Mone against the ropes. Mone lands a senton on Riho. Windsor breaks up the subsequent pinfall attempt. Mone sends Windsor to the outside. Riho sweeps Sakura’s leg from underneath. Mone breaks up her cover. Mone rocks Windsor with a knee. Windsor locks Mone in the Sharpshooter through the ropes. Meanwhile, Riho locks in a single leg crab on Sakura for the win.
Winners: Riho & Alex Windsor
Backstage, Ricochet agrees to leave GOA in the back tonight if The Hurt Syndicate agree to do the same when he faces Shelton Benjamin. Ricochet says they will have choice but to respect them at All Out though.
We Hear From FTR & Stokely
Stokely says what happens in Toronto is not going to be a dream match. Stokely says it will be a fight that FTR wins. Stokely says everyone is alike because they’re all not getting any hoes. Dax Harwood says this should have been a dream match. He then invites members of the audience to fight. Harwood begins trash talking a man on the entrance way. Harwood then attacks the camera man. Cash Wheeler attacks a member of production crew. AEW officials come out to separate them.
Backstage, Shelton Benjamin says he’ll leave his boys in the back if Ricochet can do the same.
Shelton Benjamin vs. Ricochet
Benjamin sends Ricochet to the outside. Ricochet then wipes him out with a dive. Ricochet follows up with a 450 Splash for a near fall. Benjamin responds with a high knee strike. He then launches Ricochet into the corner, so much so that he goes flying over the ropes. Benjamin drops Ricochet on top of the barricade. Benjamin rolls him back into the ring. Ricochet nails Benjamin with an elbow. Benjamin drops him onto the mat.
Ricochet trips Benjamin and sends him crashing into the announce desk. Ricochet follows with a leaping kick.
Back from break, Benjamin German suplexes Ricochet across the ring multiple times. He follows up with a rising knee strike. Benjamin suplexes Ricochet again for a near fall. Ricochet stomps on Benjamin, then nails him with a knee. Benjamin responds with a superkick. Benjamin lands another roundhouse kick. Ricochet meets him up top and descends with a Spanish Fly.
Ricochet grabs scissors, but Benjamin blocks him from using them. Benjamin drives Ricochet into the mat. Benjamin breaks the scissors and tosses them out of the ring. Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona distract the referee and Benjamin. Liona headbutts Benjamin, allowing Ricochet to roll up Benjamin for the win.
Winner: Ricochet
After the match, MVP swings his walking stick at Kaun. Liona and Bobby Lashley begin brawling. AEW officials eventually separate them.
Backstage, Don Callis says Kyle Fletcher will bring the AEW World Championship back to their family. Fletcher vows to do just that at All Out.
Philly Street Fight: Toni Storm vs. Skye Blue
Storm strikes Blue with a kendo stick. Blue does the same in return. Storm whacks Blue with a stop sign next. Blue dodges a hip attack from Storm and hits her with a pan. Blue staples Storm in the butt. She then staples her chest and pants. Storm staples Blue in return. Storm knocks her off the apron with a hip attack.
Back from break, Storm and Blue trade strikes while sitting atop the barricade. Blue whacks Storm with a street sign. Storm sweeps her off the barricade in response. Storm reveals a table full of mouse traps. Storm puts Blue’s hand into one of the traps. Blue kicks Storm on the apron, then powerbombs Storm onto the table of mouse traps. Blue places a chair in the corner. Storm sends Blue crashing into it, then slams it against her. Storm spikes Blue with a DDT, but Blue kicks out.
Storm whacks Blue with an electric fly swatter. Blue kicks Storm in the corner, then powerbombs her into a trash can. Storm launches a chair at Blue. She places a piece of carboard in front of Blue and charges in with a hip attack. Storm drops her with a Storm Zero for the win.
Winner: Toni Storm
After the match, Thekla and Julia Hart attack Storm. Kris Statlander runs down to even the odds, but also gets beaten down. Jamie Hayter comes out next and rocks Hart with an elbow. She then elbows Thekla, while Statlander beats down Hart. Hayter accidentally nails Statlander with a lariat. Hart drops Hayter. Thekla spears Storm.
Backstage, Harley Cameron sings a song on behalf of Kris Statlander for Willow Nightingale. Cameron invites Nightingale to join her and Statlander. Nightingale declines because she knows how it’ll end. Nightingale then tells Cameron she needs to watch her back.
$500,000 Tag Team: Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) & The Opps (Katsuyori Shibata, Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta) & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson)
Nick shoulder tackles Bandido, then chops him. Nick rolls him up for a one count. Bandido returns with a roll up of his own. King tags in and slams Nick and Matt. King slams Bandido onto Matt, but Matt gets his knees up to block. Bandido delivers a backbreaker to Yuta. Joe kicks Yuta, then cinches in an ankle lock. Yuta reaches the bottom rope to break it. Joe lays in right hands. Shibata chops Yuta in the corner. Yuta dropkicks Shibata.
Claudio tags in and fires off uppercuts on Shibata. Shibata responds with a knee and right hands. He follows up with a dropkick. Shibata cinches in a sleeper hold. Moxley breaks it up. All ten men are brawling. Hobbs knocks Nick and Matt off the apron. King then wipes him with a dive. Hobbs clotheslines Matt and Nick when they return to the ring. Hobbs, King, and Shibata take turns striking Claudio. Bandido wipes out his opponents with a springboard moonsault. He follows with a frog splash to Claudio for a near fall.
Back from break, Hobbs runs over Claudio and Moxley. He then crushes them in separate corners before sandwiching them together in one. Marina Shafir argues with the referee. Yuta swings a chair at Hobbs, but he’s unfazed. Hobbs sends Yuta to the outside. Claudio rocks Hobbs with an uppercut. Hobbs takes them both out with a clothesline. King chops Matt and Nick, then sandwiches them in a corner.
King superplexes Matt off the top. Moxley delivers a cutter to Bandido. Claudio swings King around. Joe runs him over with a clothesline. Moxley spikes Joe with a DDT. Hobbs plants Moxley with a spinebuster. Yuta leaps off the top with an elbow, but then eats a kick from Shibata. Matt and Nick superkick Shibata. Bandido sends Matt and Nick flying with a hurricanrana. Bandido follows up with a knee to Nick. Bandido pushes Matt into Nick. Matt rolls up Bandido while Nick gives him leverage.
Winners: Death Riders & The Young Bucks
After the match, King chops both Matt and Nick. Bandido joins in for a brawl. The Death Riders launch Shibata into the barricade, then Joe into the ring steps. They drag Hobbs to the center of the ring and stomp away at him. Darby Allin runs down to even the odds. He and Moxley brawl, while the other Death Riders brawl with The Opps. Daniel Garcia attacks Allin from behind. Shafir comes into the ring with a chair. Garcia slams Allin’s face into it, then punches him repeatedly. He stands tall with Moxley.
