NEW TO ABC
A Million Little Things
The downer premise of friends who come together after a suicide could be lifted by a great cast, especially Mr. James Roday himself. ABC looks like it’s getting into the “This Is Us” game and I think it’s working.
The Fix
Robin Tunney stars as a prosecutor who loses a high-profile murder case but comes out of retirement when the killer strikes again. This highly-serialized drama has all the elements of a solid crime show if they play their cards right.
Grand Hotel
A light-toned drama about the owners and staff of a ritzy hotel in Miami. In other words, a potentially delicious soapy drama that could fill the Scandal void. (Hey, I said “potentially” and “could.”)
The Kids Are Alright
The Wonder Years but with eight boys. This looks like a cool take on recent “decade comedies” that doesn’t poke fun at its decade but depicts it with fond nostalgia.
The Rookie
Two words: Nathan. Fillion. It looks like a more dramatic role for him though, hopefully, he can still have room to do what he does best.
Schooled
No trailer for this Goldbergs spinoff yet, so fans will have to wait and see how the show will play out.
Single Parents
Leighton Meester and Taran Killam look like great leads comedy about a group of single parents at an elementary school. The trailer has the right amount of heart and comedy that could deliver a fun half-hour in the fall.
Whiskey Cavalier
You had me at Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley #TeamNoel. If the show is as sexy and hella fun as the trailer, ABC may have that special kind of procedural that plays to both old and young demos. Did I mention how much I love Lauren Cohan?
