The Rock is currently not expected to be part of WWE WrestleMania 41.
Although things could change, his involvement in the show is considered “unlikely at this time,” according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The speculation had been that Rock would wrestle a high-profile match at the event, possibly against Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns.
One source noted, “He’s not going to be able to do Mania. He already gave word that he wouldn’t be able to do that match.”
The Rock made his first WWE appearance since WrestleMania 40 following the main event of WWE Bad Blood. He walked out to the stage area and appeared to count to three with his fingers, which some took as him referencing having pinned Rhodes at WrestleMania 40 night one.
Rock’s schedule and the preparation he requires to get into ring shape are said to be factors in his decision not to wrestle at Mania next year. He underwent a full training camp for his match at WrestleMania 40, something his schedule currently does not allow for.
“The story is simply his schedule got too heavy, he couldn’t commit to doing it right.”
The Rock would likely have to make a final decision on Mania before WWE Royal Rumble 2025 on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
