For the second straight year, ROH Final Battle will be headlined by Athena defending the ROH Women’s World Championship against Billie Starkz.
The “Forever Champ” spoke with our own Denise Salcedo ahead of Friday’s pay-per-view at the Hammerstein Ballroom. During the interview, she revealed that her match vs. Starkz will be the last on the show.
“We will be the first women to main event in Hammerstein as far as I know. As far as Ring of Honor goes, anyway,” Athena said.
Athena also spoke about getting to perform in the famed Hammerstein Ballroom for the first time:
“It’s one of the most iconic arenas for Ring of Honor. There is so much history there and like it’s wild to say that I’ve never wrestled there. I’ve been in the audience, I’ve been backstage, I’ve seen my friends wrestle there, but it’s a really cool moment to just be able to have that time and that space in that ring in such an amazing venue.”
“The crowd there is unreal it is like no other crowd in New York, dare I say, the States.”
This will be the third singles match between the two. In addition to Athena’s win over Starkz at Final Battle last year, she also defeated Starkz at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023.
