This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite emanates from Hollywood, Florida! We break it all down in this week’s AEW Dynamite recap!
The Young Bucks celebrates the anniversary. Matt has plans for a special match entrance tonight, but Nick spends all their money at the casino and loses it.
Josh Alexander & The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) vs. Brodido (Bandido & Brody King) & Kenny Omega
Alexander and Omega lock up. Alexander knocks him down with a shoulder tackle. Omega takes Alexander down with a hurricanrana. Omega drives Matt into the mat. King drops Nick onto Matt, then crushes them with a senton. Bandido leaps onto Matt and Nick with a crossbody. Bandido blocks a series of superkicks, then sends them flying with a hurricanrana. King tosses Alexander to the outside. Omega wipes out all three man with a dive. Bandido does the same with a moonsault. King slams Omega onto Alexander. Bandido slams King onto Alexander next. Matt and Nick deliver a draping senton to Omega. Bandido eats superkicks from them. Omega lands an enziguiri on Nick, then spikes both Matt and Nick. Nick wipes out Bandido and King on the outside. Nick and Alexander then double team Omega.
Back from break, Bandido levels Alexander with a cannonball. Matt dropkicks King through the ropes. Omega bounces Matt and Nick off the top rope. Omega wipes them all out with a leap to the outside. King, Bandido, and Omega spike Alexander, Matt, and Nick with piledrivers. Omega lands a series of German suplexes on all three opponents. Nick superkicks Omega. Alexander then drives him into the mat for a near fall. King rocks Nick with an elbow. Omega hits a snapdragon suplex on Matt and Nick. He knees Alexander in the back, then takes him down with a reverse hurricanrana. Omega follows with a V-Trigger. King wipes out Matt and Nick with a suicide dive to the outside. Omega finishes off Alexander with a One Winged Angel.
Winners: Brodido & Kenny Omega
After the match, Alexander beats down Omega, while Matt and Nick seem conflicted. Jack Perry and Luchasaurus come down to the ring. Perry spikes Matt and Nick with a DDT. Luchasaurus chokeslams them. Omega sends Alexander to the outside with a snapdragon suplex. Omega and Perry shove each other. Perry dives onto Matt and Nick. He and Luchasaurus brawl to the back with them.
Omega grabs a mic and says he’s seen the highs and lows in AEW. Omega takes pride in the journey of AEW. Omega says he is a better person because of AEW. The lights flicked off and on, revealing a hooded figure. It is revealed to be Andrade. Andrade runs over Omega with a pair of clotheslines and twisting neckbreaker. Don Callis joins Andrade in the ring. They shake hands.
AEW TNT Title: Kyle Fletcher (c) vs. Orange Cassidy
Cassidy quickly rolls up Fletcher, but Fletcher kicks out. Fletcher and Cassidy both attempt a backslide, but fail to do so. Cassidy rolls up Fletcher again for a two count. Fletcher rocks Cassidy with a high boot. Cassidy dives onto Fletcher through the ropes. Fletcher knocks Cassidy off the turnbuckle.
Back from break, Fletcher boots Cassidy in the face. Cassidy launches Fletcher into the corner with an arm drag. Cassidy bounces Fletcher off the turnbuckle pads. Cassidy then spikes Fletcher with a tornado DDT. Fletcher catches Cassidy mid-crossbody, then drives him into the mat with a sitout powerbomb. Cassidy delivers a Stun Dog Millionaire, then a pair of DDTs.
Cassidy sets up for an Orange Punch, but Fletcher counters. Cassidy rolls up Fletcher for a two count. Fletcher nails Cassidy with a jumping piledriver. Cassidy rolls up Fletcher again, only to eat a superkick after he kicks out. Cassidy headbutts Fletcher. Fletcher distracts the referee, allowing a man in a Hologram mask to sweep Cassidy off the turnbuckle. Fletcher delivers a turnbuckle brainbuster for the win.
Winner (And Still): Kyle Fletcher
After the match, Fletcher and the masked man stomp away at Cassidy. Mark Briscoe, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly rush down to even the odds.
Backstage, Mercedes Mone says she will put her TBS Championship on the line next week against a Florida local.
Adam Page & The Opps (Powerhouse Hobbs & Samoa Joe) vs. Death Riders (Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia & Jon Moxley)
Claudio and Joe lock up, then trade strikes. Joe rains down with punches in the corner. Claudio responds with an uppercut. Joe runs him over with a shoulder. Moxley, Garcia, and Claudio triple team Joe in another corner. Joe and Moxley trade punches. Joe nails Moxley with a senton. Page tags in and tosses Garcia across the ring. Page leaps to the outside with a crossbody to Garcia. Hobbs tags in and levels Moxley and Claudio with a shoulder tackle. He splashes both of them in the corner. Hobbs runs over Garcia with a clothesline. Moxley dropkicks Hobbs to the outside. Hobbs catches his dive and slams him against the apron.
Back from break, Hobbs powerslams Claudio. Page drops Garcia on his back, then delivers a Death Valley Driver. Page elbows Moxley. Moxley escapes a Dead Eye and cinches in a chokehold. Claudio knocks Joe and Hobbs off the apron. Claudio then rocks Page with an uppercut for a near fall. Claudio and Moxley stomp away at Page. Hobbs crushes Moxley in the corner. Hobbs delivers a spinebuster to Claudio. Garcia takes Hobbs to the outside. Moxley spikes Joe with a Paradigm Shift. Page nails Moxley with a Buckshot Lariat. Claudio uppercuts Page. Page counters a Neutralizer and drops Claudio with a Dead Eye. He follows with another Buckshot for the win.
Winners: The Opps & Adam Page
After the match, Joe takes issue with Page for not tagging him in. Hobbs steps between them. Security comes down to separate them before things escalate.
Backstage, Page invites Joe to a world title match at AEW WrestleDream.
Toni Storm vs. Tay Melo
Storm runs over Melo with a shoulder tackle. She follows up with a dropkick and a backbreaker. Melo cinches in a hanging arm bar against the ropes. Storm sweeps her off the apron.
Back from break, Storm and Melo trade strikes. Storm spikes Melo with a DDT. Melo runs into the corner with a big boot. Storm delivers a German suplex and a hip attack. She plants Melo with a Storm Zero for the win.
Winner: Toni Storm
After the match, Storm says she heard nothing at AEW All Out. Storm says she then stared at Kris Statlander, the glorious champion. Storm says when she left the ring, all the questions followed her into the dark. Storm questions who she is without a championship. Storm says she’s not finished with Statlander. She lays out a challenge for a one-on-one title match.
Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona (w/ Ricochet) vs. Lee Johnson and Blake Christian
Liona runs over Johnson in the corner. He and Kaun then double team Johnson. Kaun chops Johnson. Blake rocks Kaun with an enziguiri. He follows with a springboard kick. Kaun catches Blake and delivers a lung blower.
Back from break, Johnson and Kaun exchange blows. Johnson nails Kaun with an enziguiri. Johnson sends Kaun to the outside. Liona pulls Johnson to the outside. Liona escapes and kicks him. Johnson dives onto Kaun on the other side of the ring. Liona runs into the ring post. Blake levels him on the outside. Kaun dropkicks Johnson. Liona runs over Blake with a shoulder. Kaun runs in with a pair of double knees on Johnson in the corner. Liona and Kaun chokeslam Johnson for the win.
Winners: Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona
After the match, Ricochet rolls Blake into the ring. He then hits him with a Spirit Gun. The Hurt Syndicate emerge on the stage. MVP apologizes to Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin for being the one to lose to the GOA and Ricochet at All Out. MVP challenges them to a No DQ Street Fight match next week. Ricochet accepts.
Backstage, Kris Statlander accepts Toni Storm’s challenge for a women’s title match at WrestleDream.
Elsewhere, Don Callis challenges Brodido to face Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita next week.
Mixed Tornado Tag: Darby Allin & Kris Statlander vs. Death Riders (Marina Shafir & Wheeler Yuta)
Statlander pump kicks Shafir. She then sends Yuta into a wall. They all brawl throughout the crowd. Shafir chokes Statlander with a head scissors. Statlander sends Shafir crashing into the top of the barricade. Statlander wipes out Yuta and Shafir with a crossbody. Allin sits Yuta on a chair. Yuta dodges a dive, causing Allin to collide with the chair. Shafir fight on the commentary table. Shafir kicks Statlander.
Back from break, Shafir lands a 619, then flips off Statlander. Yuta and Allin trade strikes. Allin suplexes Yuta onto a stack of chairs. Statlander sends herself and Shafir crashing through a table. Allin superplexes Yuta onto the chairs. Yuta drops Allin onto the apron. Yuta pulls out a bag of tacks. Statlander suplexes Yuta onto the chairs. Statlander then drops Shafir’s bare feet onto the tacks. Yuta pushes Statlander to the outside. Yuta accidently blinds Shafir with powder. Statlander leaps onto them both with a splash. Allin follows with a Coffin Drop to Yuta for the win.
Winners: Kris Statlander & Darby Allin
After the match, Statlander and Storm begin brawling on the ramp and then to the back. Back in the ring, Allin lashes Yuta with his belt. Pac attacks Allin from behind. Moxley, Claudio, and Garcia get in the ring while Pac chokes Allin with the belt. Moxley says there’s no chance of Allin beating him at WrestleDream. Moxley asserts that Allin will say “I quit.” Pac clotheslines Allin.
