AEW Dynamite January 28, 2026: Kenny Omega In Action, Multiple Titles On The Line

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite emanates from Cedar Park, Texas! We break it all down in this week’s Dynamite recap.

Kenny Omega vs. Rocky Romero

Omega tosses Romero into the corner, then fires off right hands. Omega follows with a back elbow. He launches Romero to the outside, where he wipes him out with a crossbody. Omega lands a leg drop and a punt. Omega continues with a sling blade. Romero dodges a V-Trigger by rolling to the outside again. Romero lands a series of forearms and chops. Romero crushes Omega in the corner with lariats. Omega answers with a boot. Romero connects with a side kick. Omega blasts him with a V-Trigger and snap dragon in response. Omega finishes off Romero with another V-Trigger and a One Winged Angel for the win.

Winner: Kenny Omega

After the match, Omega joins Tony Schiavone in the ring. Omega reiterates that he hasn’t felt this good in years. Omega again claims a shot at the AEW World Championship and intends to run through anyone he needs to get it. Adam Page’s music hits. Page says he’d rather fight beside than against Omega, but when it comes to the world title, then so be it. Page says because of Hook and MJF, he lost the world title and the chance to regain it. Page asserts that the next champion will not be Omega, Andrade, or Swerve Strickland, but it will be himself. Swerve Strickland’s music hits.

Strickland says he came back to AEW for the world title. He points out that he has yet to be pinned since returning, so he is on an equal playing field with Page and Omega. Strickland says he doesn’t care who he has to stomp out to get the title back. Omega suggests that Strickland is more so looking for a fight. Strickland confirms that. Don Callis comes out next. Callis says it won’t be much longer until Andrade pins Strickland tonight. Callis adds that when Andrade beats Strickland, he will beat Omega next. Callis says he has something special for Page as well. Callis warns that his stable runs the show. Omega chases Callis to the backstage area.

AEW Continental Title Eliminator: Ace Austin vs. Jon Moxley [c]

Moxley bursts out of the corner with a big boot. He fires of chops, then right hands next. Austin answers with chops of his own. He rolls Moxley into a crucifix pin for a two count. They trade chops. Austin rocks Moxley with a dropkick. He follows with a kick off the apron.

Back from break, Austin lands a double leg drop. He fires off forearms on Moxley in the corner. Moxley responds with a lariat. Moxley and Austin trade pinfall attempts. Moxley blasts Austin with an elbow strike. Austin rocks him with a spinning kick for a near fall. Austin stuns Moxley with a back elbows and an enziguiri. Moxley answers with a cutter and a Death Rider for the win.

Winner: Jon Moxley

After the match, Konosuke Takeshita confronts Moxley in the ring, making it clear that he wants a shot at the title. When Takeshita leaves the ring, Mark Davis and Jake Doyle ambush Moxley.

AEW TNT Title: Mark Briscoe (c) vs. El Clon

Clon rocks Briscoe with an elbow strike. He follows with a loud chop in the corner. Briscoe answers with an uppercut. He drags Clon the outside for a chop of his own. Briscoe fires off right hands next. Briscoe tosses a chair into the ring. Clon throws it back to the floor. Briscoe runs over Clon with a lariat. He follows with scissor kick through the ropes and a cannonball to the outside.

Back from break, Briscoe leaps off the top with a Froggy Bow for a near fall. He sets up for a Jay Driller next, but Clon counters it and lands on his feet. Clon rocks Briscoe with an overhead kick. He goes up top and descends with a double stomp. Clon lands an enziguiri. Briscoe rolls up Clon for the win.

Winner (And Still): Mark Briscoe

After the match, Briscoe lays out an open challenge for AEW Collision, but excludes the Don Callis Family from answering it. The lights flicker off and on, revealing Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa says he will see Briscoe on Saturday.

Backstage, Kazuchika Okada says he didn’t mean to hurt Kyle Fletcher at Worlds End. He apologizes for doing so. Fletcher says he was mad, but he now accepts Okada’s apology. Fletcher and Okada shake hands.

We Hear From MJF

MJF says he is speaking, so the people must listen to him. Brody King interrupts. MJF says with big ears, King would be able to listen, but he’s actually deaf and stupid. King approaches the ring, prompting MJF to move back. King agrees to professional with MJF. MJF says in order for King to get a world title shot, he first needs to be someone who matters. MJF claims that King is follows him around just like he did to Malakai Black. MJF suggests that King maybe should follow him around like a bodyguard. MJF points out in order for King to be a world title like him, though, he needs to be a leader.

King agrees that he hasn’t beaten anyone credible yet, which is why he went to Tony Khan to get a match against MJF. King announces that he has an eliminator match next week and if he wins, they will battle over the title at Grand Slam.

AEW Women’s World Title: Kris Statlander (c) vs. Thekla

Thekla immediately fires off an open hand strike. Statlander answers with a chop and a leg drop on the apron. Statlander delivers a vertical suplex on the floor. She launches Thekla into the steel steps next. Thekla boots Statlander to the floor.

Back from break, Thekla locks in an Octopus submission, then wrenches her arm. Thekla follows with a stomp for a near fall. Statlander rocks Thekla with a thrust kick. Thekla counters a Night Fever with a roll-up. Statlander kicks out and intercepts a spear. She drives Thekla into the mat with a powerbomb and Night Fever for the win.

Winner (And Still): Kris Statlander

After the match, Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron join Statlander in the ring. Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford stare them down.

AEW World Tag Team Title: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) (w/ Stokely) (c) vs. Jake Doyle & Mark Davis

Doyle runs over Wheeler with shoulder tackles. Davis and Doyle deliver a double lariat to Wheeler. Davis lands a loud chop on Harwood. He then slams Harwood to the mat. Wheeler gets caught mid-dive. Doyle and Davis launch Wheeler into Harwood.

Back from break, Davis sends Wheeler crashing to the floor. Davis cinches in a sleeper hold on Harwood. Harwood eventually escapes by rolling through and launching Davis through the ropes. The Death Riders surround the ring. Daniel Garcia distracts the referee, allowing Jon Moxley to clocks Davis with his title belt. Davis returns to eat a Shatter Machine from FTR.

Winner (And Still): FTR

Backstage, AEW officials separate Toni Storm and Marina Shafir.

Andrade El Idolo vs. Swerve Strickland

Andrade runs over Strickland with a shoulder tackle. Strickland and Andrade counter each other’s moves. Andrade fires off chops on Strickland. Strickland returns with his own. Strickland’s launches Andrade across the ring with a hurricanrana. Andrade responds by driving Strickland into the steel ring steps.

Back from break, Andrade launches Strickland off the top with a poisonrana. He follows with a running knee for a near fall. Andrade drives Strickland into the mat with a flatliner. Strickland rolls into a jackknife pin, but Andrade kicks out. Andrade rolls up Strickland for a two count again. Strickland connects with the House Call. Andrade grabs the referee’s wrist as a distraction while he low blows Strickland. He drops Strickland with The Message for the win.

Winner: Andrade
