A story four months in the making, Rhea Ripley finally collided with her former tag team partner Liv Morgan. After Rhea successfully retained her Women’s World Championship at Wrestle Mania was attacked by Liv. She later explained her reasoning: When they were tag team partners their friendship imploded, Rhea injured Liv’s shoulder in July of 2023. This was an eye for an eye for Liv.
In a twisted fate, Rhea suffered a shoulder injury and was forced to vacate her championship. This was the spark Liv needed to start what she called the “Liv Morgan Revenge Tour”, her explicit intent to take anything and everything away from Rhea. This started with the Women’s World Championship. Liv defeated Becky Lynch at the King & Queen of the Ring in May.
From here on, Liv’s next target was Dominick Mysterio, Rhea’s on screen boyfriend. Liv spent weeks aggressively flirting with Dominick, and it seemed to work? Dominick even “accidentally” helped Liv on more than one occasion. Finally Rhea returned on July 8th, and made her intentions known. She made sure Dominick was on her side, and challenged Liv.
The electric match opened the show. Rhea came out in front of the stadium with Dominick in tow. Liv Morgan marched to the ring holding the championship with pride. As their names were announced Rhea stared daggers at Liv who was laughing maniacally.
After lots of running away, Rhea finally got her hands on liv. Until Liv tosses her shoulder first into the turnbuckle. Rhea began to shout “IT’S DISLOCATED!”. Her shoulder stuck in an unnatural spot. After surviving an onslaught, Rhea drove her own shoulder into the commentary desk to shove her shoulder back into place. A grotesque site but effective.
Rhea’s anger got the best of her, she held a chair high above her head to demolish Liv. Dominick interrupted her, and told her she couldn’t win the title like this. Liv Morgan knocked Rhea into Dom and hit a her Oblivion finishing maneuver. Rhea somehow still kicked out. Dominick leapt onto the apron once more to take the referee’s attention. The steel chair still in the ring, Liv hits another Oblivion, this time onto the steel chair.
Liv Morgan retained the championship, Dominick stood outside the ring with a wicked smirk on his face. Liv exited the ring and embraced him with an impassioned kiss. This was a screw job. Liv Morgan’s 70 day title reign gets to continue another day.
